Being haunted by echoes from the past is a sign of a true connection lost. Being reminded of a loss is good, it will teach me to either be mindful of how delicate a connection we have to our fellow human beings, to respect and be thankful or it will hurt and corrupt.
The pain of loss is a potent and all consuming feeling, trauma can send a person to unspeakable deeds in the quest for revenge. Revenge is a savage and despicable tool that has only one purpose. To destroy once that tool is used you become that tool and no other use for you in this world. I don't know about the next, we all have accounts we have to settle, each is unique to themselves.
I've heard it said that justice and law is sanctioned revenge by the state. This brings me to a contentious and often misunderstood tool in Islam...
Sharia law
From research many years ago, I came to understand what sharia law is from a particular stand point. We have the Quran, we have Hadith, where did sharia come from? It's detailed and very specific. It comes from within the Quran and Hadith but it evolved over time, 1400 years to be precise.
In the UK a child could be hanged for stealing bread as little as a century and a half ago. (approx)
Laws and punishments fit the time in which they were used. I'm not here to judge with a 21 century head on a situation 200 years ago let alone 1400.
So what is sharia law now...well ill find out and tell you!
