Id like to add that I have made many a friend from Bangladesh and elsewhere since. Friends are a valuable resource, they can guide and advise on aspects of modern life, aside from The Islamic viewpoint.
The Islamic viewpoint is the only viewpoint from a muslim perspective but in a world where it is not the only viewpoint and in a country where Muslims are in the minority it cannot be enforced on Non-Muslims.
Any muslim that thinks that this is possible is living in cloud cuckoo land.
Islamic scholars absorbed works of the Greeks, and built upon them as well as others. Scholarly work is not the sole remit of Islamic society.
Science, mathematics, physics, medicine, has made astronomic leaps and bounds by non muslim scholars. This proves my premise that the Islamic viewpoint isn't the only viewpoint.
Cooperation, peaceful coexistence, sharing of ideas for the greater good of humanity is the way forward, and a great way to be a contributor to this is to communicate, co exist, build ties and friendships.
The majority of the world is non muslim. As long as we are free to practice our faith, we are not at war. Our faith is not under threat overtly! Therefore we have no cause to justify that there is a holy war and Islam's very existence is under threat. Take a look around you in London, how many mosques are there? How many are in the UK as a whole, Muslims are thriving and are free to practice our faith. Take a look online, how much knowledge is available on Islam? Videos, articles, websites, blogs, apps. Islam is alive, well and thriving thank you very much.
Did a muslim invent and construct the Internet, the technology to access and utilise it? Did a muslim invent apps and smartphones to access and use the content? Islam is a beneficiary of both!
There is no evidence to suggest that Islam is under any greater threat of extinction than there is about any other religion. On the contrary it is growing!
Any radicals that say otherwise, is creating a climate of fear and warmongering to their own end...
Islam is alive and well, under no credible threat, the greatest threat to Islam comes from within. Those that pervert and manipulate Islamic teaching are the worst among us and a plague upon our society, our culture, our peace and security.
Conflicts or issues in particular pockets of the world are bound to occur, those Muslims that were murdered because they're muslim are shaheed and are in paradise, we should be happy for them, those that killed them are bound for hellfire!
As long as Islam is not under an outright and open attack where is the so called "clash of civilisations". The only clash of civilisations is created by those who want to make capital out of it. Promoting the inclusiveness and remarkable tolerance of Islam is a duty of all Muslims and that means by going out there and engaging non Muslims in dialogue and in the spirit of "friendship" and "cooperation" , anything else is the height of stupidity!
This is my personal opinion based on my knowledge, experience and understanding and not from any other group or organisation either formal or informal. No one has conspired or enticed me and I stand by my viewpoint as I am entitled to under the laws of this land.
There is nothing offensive, counter productive or anti Islamic that I've stated. Moreover it's in keeping with Islamic teachings, to go about our lives in peace! There will be issues where there will be bones of contention but that happens anyway! There is no threat to our existence! Therefore any issues can be resolved through peaceful discussion.
