Guess what? I got back from the mosque at about 0130, we agreed to take a nap, well, I've just woken up...nice nap that turned out to be...all is not lost, I'm going to try to fast without a meal this morning. It's a toughie but hey, many have gone before me and many will after.
Fatigue; you wanna know about fatigue, I was in pain praying for over two hours, it felt like a yoga class, holding those positions for 15-30 seconds, being sat on the floor for a few mins at a time, sat on your legs...like I said, yoga is easier because you can take a break. People do drop out but I've been intent to carry out 20 raqat.
At some point I will explain the meanings of certain words like raqat, Which means the following: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raka'at
It is easier if I link it to sources that can better explain it should you wish to learn more.
This is about describing my experiences so you and I can chart my journey. This journey has taken a steep incline, the fatigue hit me like a sledge hammer, I've played football, I've done, distance running, I've boxed and I've done various martial arts, all as a young man, now I know when the lactic acid kicks in you're in trouble, you may or may not have seen the likes of Sir Chris Hoy reel in agony when it does. It's not to that intensity but its constant and over 2 hours. Imagine that. No wonder I fell asleep till now.
How this is going to impact me moving forward, ill be sure to share. Meanwhile a message from a very dear person to me sent me this to share with me, I in turn will share it with you...
Ayah of the day:
Indeed in the creation of the heavens and the earth and alternation of day and night there are Signs (of Allah’s Absolute Authority) for those who possess sense and wisdom. These are the people who remain in remembrance of Allah standing (as embodiment of submissiveness), sitting (as reverence incarnate) and (also) while changing sides (in discomfort of love) and meditate on (effulgent disclosures of His Grandeur and Beauty, at work in) the creation of the heavens and the earth. (Getting such a taste for His gnosis they call out spontaneously): ‘Our Lord! You have not created (all) this without any rationale and strategy. You are (impeccably) Pure (of all shortcomings and dependencies). Protect us from the torment of Hell.’
Al-Quran, al-Imran (3:190,191).
